Reporting to the Privacy Director, and indirectly to the Vice President (VP) Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) Officer is responsible for managing the FOIPOP process for NSH; providing expert advice and support to ensure NSH’s compliance with all applicable legislation, as well as internal FOIPOP policy and procedures.
The FOIPOP Officer processes information access requests under the Nova Scotia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPOP Act), including processing consult requests, and supports the development and delivery of education and training to promote awareness and understanding of the FOIPOP Act, related legislation and NSH processes.
The role of the FOIPOP Officer is instrumental to fostering a robust privacy culture at NSH that values the need for and importance of balancing public transparency and protection of personal information (PI) and the role of independent oversight.
The FOIPOP Officer will work closely with the Privacy Director to review and update best practices for the FOIPOP review process, including requests, disclosure, reporting, and the development of new forms, policies and procedures.
