eHealth role summary

Supports implementation of Oracle Health HIS and development/maintenance of HL7 interfaces in the Rhapsody interface engine (healthcare systems integration/healthcare IT).

About this role

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is undertaking Project REACH, a multi-year initiative to implement Oracle Health’s Hospital Information System (HIS).
We are seeking an Application Administrator to support the integration, configuration, and ongoing lifecycle management of third-party and ancillary applications within the Oracle Health ecosystem.

This role will work on delivery of interfaces in Sunnybrook’s Rhapsody Interface engine

 

Responsibilities would include:

· Design, develop, implement and maintain Sunnybrook’s interface standards.  This includes:

o Provide technical consultation to HL7 client

o Review ancillary application vendors’ HL7 documentation and provide recommendations on integration requests.

o Analyze, define, design and complete specification development for HL7 projects

o Lead testing and production promotion

o Resolve client (ancillaries) issues during HL7 project implementation

o Participate in/use project management tools for status and reporting

o Detail and document interface engine production support protocols for post-implementation.

· Production Support

o Investigate and resolve problems related to the network and interface engine

o Analyze interface issues (bad , cancelled messages) and provide end user support

o Liaise with interface engine vendor as needed

o Coordinate and  execute information system policy and processes

o Recommend process improvements (interfaces) that will allow Information Systems to better serve the client

· Interface Engine system requirements

o Responsible for installing, upgrade, monitoring and maintenance of interface engine

o Prepare and present technical proposal to management including (if needed) recommendations for external expertise

o Ensure all project work align with existing corporate systems and standards

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • At least five years’ experience in the IT field
  • Comprehensive knowledge/understanding of HL7 version 2.x standard and related practical experience in the Health Care environment
  • Interface specification development and review experience
  • Interface development experience with the Rhapsody Interface Engine (preferred).
  • Knowledge/understanding of JavaScript
  • Knowledge/understanding of Windows Server
  • Knowledge/understanding of SQL server and SQL query language
  • Working experience in any application development language
  • Good interpersonal skills,
  • Project management skills
  • Manage multiple projects and operational tasks concurrently
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Problem solving skills
  • Self-teaching ability
