Job Purpose:   

Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Services, the Senior Manager, Pharmacy Programs is responsible for building and implementing pharmacy programs and initiatives that enable our pharmacy teams to improve patient health outcomes, patient experience, patient loyalty, and foster pharmacy relationships within communities to drive organic growth.

DIRECT REPORTS: Pharmacy Services Coordinator

FINANCIAL: Responsible for performance of initiatives that support achievement of pharmacy annual budgets (Rx growth, Service growth, inventory, and audit improvements). Responsible for driving performance of professional service growth at Rexall.

OTHER: Store visits each month (involves travel), period review of vendor contracts, Rx SOP yearly review, Facilitates PPL/DL/Rx Services Biweekly Conference Calls.

Principal Responsibilities:  

• Develop and implement strategies to ensure pharmacy programs are aligned with the company's goals and objectives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for program growth, improvement, and innovation.
• Conduct regular evaluations of existing pharmacy programs, effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including pharmacists, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies.
• Responsible for driving pharmacy process improvements that are in compliance with the standards of practice of pharmacy colleges in relevant provinces and that enable our pharmacy teams to provide the highest level of patient care consistently, efficiently, and effectively.
• Leads the integration of key pharmacy initiatives to the field, ensuring that they are timely and operationally executable by field operations
• Working collaboratively with strategic partners, leads design of clinical assessments for patients receiving Specialty and non-Specialty therapies, focused on disease specific therapeutic journeys, areas of clinical concern, and action planning
• Designs pharmacy initiatives and digital pharmacy service solutions in collaboration with Rexall IT and Pharmacy Technology Solutions (PTS)
• Monitors and evaluates pharmacy programs and performance, incorporates feedback directly from pharmacy staff, operations, and other workstreams to identify issues to generate insights
• Analyzes key metrics to create forecasts, inform budgets, and make clear recommendations for improving efficiency, margin, services, prescriptions, workflow, and patient experience
• Designs and enhances processes to anticipate and mitigate potential challenges
• Assesses the potential for innovations in our pharmacies and centralized virtual team, including understanding market conditions and impact on productivity and patient care
• Forecasts potential issues and defines and recommends actions required to ensure success
• Inspires DLs, PPLs and pharmacy teams to fully implement and execute pharmacy initiatives
• Manages and approves Pharmacy Services tasks released to the field by providing insight into the field team’s operational capacity Help develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to promote pharmacy programs and services to stakeholders.
• Provides input as a Pharmacy Services and Operations SME on initiative working groups
• Supports Senior Director, Central Pharmacy Operations to maximize pharmacy performance and profitability
• Performs other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

• Bachelors, Masters, or Doctor in Pharmacy
• RPh in multiple provinces an asset
• 7+ years relevant pharmacist experience, preferably Pharmacy Manager
• Ability to take initiative, be detail oriented in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage multiple projects, autonomously make decisions
• Ability to lead, inspire and hold the Virtual Services Pharmacist team accountable
• Ability to effectively implement and execute strategic corporate initiatives and programs 
• Commitment to superior customer service, people management and effective communication practices 
• Ability to interact with internal and external customers at all levels in a professional manner
• Strong presentation and communication skills both verbal and written 
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point 
• Commitment to teamwork with a contagious enthusiasm and passion for Retail Pharmacy

Context and Environment: 

Must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment that requires a high attention to detail, analytics, and the ability to lead and work on several projects simultaneously. Lead the Virtual Services Pharmacists teams. Innovate and expand service offerings. Liaison for stores and Rexall Support Center in the delivery of operational initiatives that are customer focused and reflect corporate objectives. Utilizes knowledge of project management principles to optimize revenue, profit, and brand equity. 

Internal Communications: 

• Work closely with Pharmacy Services, Operations and Executives to develop and execute on pharmacy programs.
• Work with Pharmacy Managers, PPLs, DLs, DVPs to effectively execute corporate initiatives and achieve corporate objectives.
• Build strong cross functional relationships with Finance, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Marketing, Legal, Loyalty and other departments to apply expertise and resources to support programs and the total business unit

External Communications:

• Government and Payor partners
• Vendors, in particular pharmaceutical manufacturers (brand and generic)
• Patient and disease-specific groups
