About this role

The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is harnessing the power of high-performance computing and novel technologies to integrate and analyze the wealth of data generated about the brain and mental health. Our research is performed in an open science environment, with an emphasis on reproducible data-driven research and a patient-centric approach to accelerate identification and treatment of mental illness. A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment. The Centre operates as an incubator for medical technologies to identify, manage and treat mental illness, while shaping policy at national and global levels.

 

KCNI is currently seeking an energetic and motivated full-time, permanent Research Manager.  The Research Manager will support the core administrative aspects of all scientists in the Centre.  This includes, but is not limited to, research trainee registrations, grant submissions, budget forecasting and tracking, project management and reporting, procurement, compliance with training policies and regulatory requirements, implementation and review of quality control and assurance practices, negotiation of legal contracts, data management, hiring and management of staff, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.  

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Research project management.

Good understanding of the Canadian and U.S. grant funding landscape.

Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and processes.

Specific experience in Health Canada regulated clinical trials is an asset.

Experience with research grant accounting, monitoring, and reporting.

Strong analytical, organizational, conceptual, and decision-making skills.

Proficient with advanced functions in Excel, plus working knowledge of other Microsoft Office Suite applications and REDCap.

Experience managing both unionized and non-unionized staff is a must.

Leadership and mentorship skills and must work well in a team environment.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to take control of complex situations, with demonstrated initiative and problem-solving.

Ability to manage a multiplicity of tasks with a high degree of focus, including the ability to rapidly shift between a number of relevant priorities.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Bilingualism (French / English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.

This position is currently located at 250 College Street.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in an applicable science or health science academic discipline is required.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a health research position with demonstrated leadership capabilities is required.

  • 5+ years of experience in an addictions and mental health research position, including increasing management experience in a unionized employment environment, is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:
•    Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $110,020.48 – $137,525.60 per year.  
•    Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $110,020.48– $165,030.72 per year
