Why is this role important?

The Health System Analysis branch conducts analysis and produces actionable information products on current topics related to the Canadian health system. As a co-op student you will be involved in a variety of activities that support priority project for our department, that help drive CIHI’s overall mandate to deliver on better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. This unique opportunity will expose you to areas of health data and policy-relevant analysis, indicator development, epidemiology and statistics, and health system performance

What you'll do

Provide internal team support, which may include:
1. Conducting environmental scans and/or literature reviews in assigned health-related topics, preparing a written summary of your findings and presenting it to the team
2. Assisting with analysis of administrative or survey data using R or Python and presenting your findings to the team
3. Supporting internal and external meetings by creating or reviewing pre- and post-meeting materials (e.g. presentations and meeting minutes).
4. Ensuring accuracy of our products by participating in fact-checking activities
5. Participating in team discussions of issues, problem-solving, solutioning and execution
6. Support project teams through coordination, collaboration, communication, monitoring, reporting and documentation activities

What you'll bring to the table

- Working towards an undergraduate or graduate program (Health Science, Public Health, Data Science, Biostatistics, or related fields) requiring co-op as part of the educational requirement
- Proficient with office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Be well organized, detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders both verbally and written
- Initiative driven and go-getter attitude
- Knowledge of technical tools such as R or Python is an asset

Additional Requirements

Primary locations: Toronto or Ottawa.
• Must comply with all CIHI workplace policies, including privacy and confidentiality.
• Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
