eHealth role summary

Role coordinates research on a hospital clinical data platform (GEMINI), including multi-centre health data projects, AI-driven predictive tools for sepsis, data collection/REDCap, and data governance — core digital health/health informatics work.

About this role

Research Coordinator II, GEMINI

GEMINI (www.geminimedicine.ca) is a “made-in-Ontario” data platform and Canada's largest hospital clinical data research network. We have collected data for >3 million admissions (constituting > 20 billion datapoints) from more than 40 hospitals in all regions of Ontario (caring for >60% of Ontarians), enabling research about quality of care and patient outcomes. The GEMINI data platform supports >1000 researchers, clinicians and students from all across Ontario, with >100 active projects. GEMINI has been a core dataset in >100 grants that have received more than $200M in funding, held at more than 13 different institutions. GEMINI has become a system-wide resource for research, quality measurement and innovations in hospital care, including in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and advanced data analytics, and supports the training of a wide variety of highly qualified personnel.

The GEMINI team is seeking a Research Coordinator II to lead multi-institutional research studies, including the development of research protocol, coordinating REB submissions, execution of research studies (e.g. patient recruitment, data collection), day-to-day project management, and tracking/reporting of study milestones and deliverables. The successful candidate will be coordinating a large multi-centre project aimed at improving sepsis management through the development of AI-driven tools that enable early detection and personalized treatment selection. This project will also integrate social determinants of health into predictive models to identify and mitigate biases, ensuring equitable and effective care across vulnerable populations. This is a collaborative project, involving clinician scientists, computer scientists, and patient partners with multiple phases. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be responsible for oversight and project management for GEMINI’s growing body of other sepsis-related research. You will be an integral part of a fun and mission-driven team while working closely with researchers/investigators and clinicians from various expertise and backgrounds.
