The Supervisor 2, Health Records Coding & Data Quality is an operational leader responsible for the overall performance, development, and engagement of a large Health Records Coding team. This role provides strong people leadership and is accountable for building and sustaining a high performing, skilled, and engaged workforce aligned with organizational priorities and values.
The incumbent leads, coaches, and develops staff through effective performance management, mentorship, and workforce planning, with a strong emphasis on emotional intelligence, psychological safety, and staff growth. As a change champion, the Supervisor leads teams through evolving practices, systems, and coding requirements, ensuring staff are supported and prepared throughout periods of change.
The role requires strong technical and analytical capability, including the ability to run, interpret, and apply hospital data to monitor coding quality, productivity, and performance trends. The Supervisor applies a working knowledge of hospital funding methodologies and casemix principles to support data integrity, decision making, and organizational funding objectives.
The Supervisor collaborates closely with clinical programs, finance, decision support, and other stakeholders to ensure coding practices support high quality data submissions and organizational goals.
The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills. Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English speaking clients.
