An IT Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering infrastructure-focused IT projects, including network upgrades, cloud migrations, data center deployments, and system implementations. This role ensures solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Delivery

• Define project scope, objectives, benefits, and success criteria
• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules
• Manage the full project lifecycle from initiation through closure
• Monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of milestones

2. Infrastructure Project Execution

• Lead and manage projects in collaboration with third-party vendors and PHSA
• Deliver infrastructure initiatives such as:
  • Network upgrades (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN)
  • Server and storage deployments
• Coordinate installation, configuration, and rollout of IT systems

3. Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and end users
• Communicate project status, risks, and key milestones
• Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve issues proactively
• Serve as the primary point of contact for projects
• Organize, lead, and document stakeholder meetings, including action tracking

4. Vendor & Third-Party Management

• Manage relationships, contracts, and deliverables with vendors and suppliers
• Coordinate external engineers, consultants, and service providers
• Ensure all deliverables meet agreed SLAs and quality standards

5. Budget & Cost Control

• Develop, manage, and forecast project budgets
• Track costs and ensure effective financial control
• Support procurement of hardware, software, and services

6. Risk & Issue Management

• Identify and assess risks (technical, security, operational)
• Develop and implement mitigation strategies
• Manage incidents, escalations, and issue resolution processes

7. Technical Coordination

• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and technical teams
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and security standards
• Manage system dependencies across platforms and environments

8. Governance & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to IT policies, security frameworks, and standards
• Apply governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT)
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements such as data protection

9. Testing, Deployment & Handover

• Oversee system testing (UAT, performance, security)
• Manage go-live activities and cutover planning
• Ensure seamless transition to operations and support teams

10. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain comprehensive project documentation (charters, plans, RAID logs, status reports, change requests, closure reports)
• Provide regular updates to leadership
• Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including:
  • Networks (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Network security
  • Servers (Windows/Linux)
  • Storage, backup, and virtualization
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles
• Experience with tools such as Smartsheet, ServiceNow, and Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field

The Project Support Manager provides project management services to Fraser Health (FH) clients in the areas of strategic business systems planning, business process design and information management; develops plans and strategies to deliver organizational and enterprise-wide initiatives from initial idea stage to implementation and leads the processes to realize business and operational benefits for the client group; consults with stakeholders and other client groups to implement overall IM strategic direction by supporting the Informatics Council and Steering Committees.
